Nigeria is currently undergoing media industry reform, with a particular focus on the broadcasting sector. The government has been actively making changes to regulatory and legislative frameworks, including reviewing the National Broadcasting Code and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Act. In June 2021, a Public Hearing was conducted by the House of Representatives to discuss the proposed amendments.
While discussions and legislative actions continue, it has been noted that the topic of Accountability, a crucial aspect of modern reform processes worldwide, receives less attention. This edition aims to address this important issue in the ongoing reform of the Nigerian media industry.
