The Centre for Media and Society invites applications from interested persons to the following positions in our organisation. CEMESO is an independent, non-governmental organisation based in Nigeria. It delivers its programme through research, training, advocacy etc.

  1. PROGRAMME OFFICERS

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design (or support the design of) projects and activities.
  • Prepare and follow-up on logistics for projects and activities.
  • Conduct and report on projects and activities.
  • Perform related work as assigned.

Competences

  • Familiarity with institutions and developments in the Nigerian media industry.
  • Familiarity with media capacity-building practices in the Nigerian environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, writing and reporting skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skill.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mass Communication or related fields including Languages, Linguistics, Political Science or Development Studies, etc.

Experience:

A minimum of six (6) years of professional experience in journalism, or related Media/communication industry or other areas of development work.

  1. FINANCE OFFICER

Duties and Responsibilities

  • keep records of transaction
  • Record accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Update internal systems with financial data
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
  • Perform other tasks assigned

Competences:

  • Familiarity with developments in the Nigerian finance sector.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong financial reporting skills

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting.

Experience:

A minimum of six (6) years professional experience in the finance industry, part of which would have been in the development work sector.

Good track record in working in the finance and administration of development project will be an asset,

  1. ASSISTANT FINANCE OFFICER

  Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the keeping of records of transactions
  • Record accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Support the updating of internal systems with financial data
  • Support the Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Perform other tasks assigned.

Competencies

  • Familiarity will organizational financial system
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good financial reporting skills

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in Accounting.

Experience:

A minimum of 4 years professional experience in the finance or development sector.
