RECRUITMENT OF PROGRAMME MANAGER
The Institute for Media and Society (IMS) is an independent, non-governmental organization based in Nigeria. It aims to help build and improve the communication capacity and environment of the media, civil society and government institutions to facilitate improved participation in democracy and development in Nigeria.
The Institute intends to recruit a Programme Manager for its Democracy and Governance Programme.
Position Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Length of contract: Two (2) years
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the design of the projects
- Coordinate the implementation of the project activities
- Supervise Programme Team members
- Report programme implementation to project management
- Serve as focal point for programme-related issues.
Competencies
- Familiarity with institutions and developments in the Nigerian media industry
- Familiarity with research and capacity building practices in the Nigerian media environment
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Strong digital communication skills
- Ability to coordinate teams effectively
- Ability to plan, organise and report on work
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication or in related fields
- A higher degree will be an advantage
Experience:
- A minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience in journalism practice or research or training and related work on democratic governance.
- Experience on working on projects with media, civil society, government institutions and other stakeholders.
- Good track record in implementation of media-related development work
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in both spoken and written English
- Skill in any Nigerian (indigenous) language will be an asset.
