The Centre for Media and Society (CEMESO) invites applications from interested persons for available positions within our organization.
CEMESO is an independent, non-governmental organization based in Nigeria. It delivers its work through training, research, documentation, advocacy and other methods.
- PROGRAMME OFFICER
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design (or support the design of) for project activities
- Develop (or support the development of) materials required for project activities.
iii. Prepare, conduct and report on project activities.
- Support project communications and visibility, monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Perform related work as assigned.
Competencies
- Familiarity with institutions and developments in the Nigerian media industry.
- Familiarity with media capacity-building practices in the Nigerian environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, writing and reporting skills.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication or related fields including Languages, Linguistics, Political Science, Development Studies, etc.
A higher degree will be an advantage
Experience:
A minimum of six (6) years of professional experience in media practice, research or training or other areas of development work.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in both spoken and written English
- Skill in any Nigerian (indigenous) language will be an asset.
- FINANCE OFFICER
Duties and Responsibilities
- Keep accurate records for all daily transactions
- Process invoices
- Record accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Update internal systems with financial data
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
- Reconcile bank statements
- Participate in financial audit.
- Track bank deposits and payments.
- Assist with budget preparation
- Review and implement financial policies
- Perform other tasks assigned
Competencies:
- Familiarity with developments in the Nigerian finance sector.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong financial management and reporting skills
- Ability to co-ordinate project finance teams effectively
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting.
Experience:
- A minimum of six (6) years professional experience in the finance industry, part of which would have been in the development work sector.
- Good track record in working in the finance and administration of development projects.
- ASSISTANT FINANCE OFFICER
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the project’s financial management, reporting, accounting, disbursements, records-keeping and related matters.
- Processes payments and documents such as invoices, journal vouchers employee reimbursements, and statements.
- Verifies items billed against items ordered and received and reconciles differences through follow-up with the vendor and /or other employees.
- Posts financial data to appropriate accounts in an automated accounting system, according to instructions.
- Reviews on-line transactions for changes and accuracy and corrects errors.
- Disburses funds using petty cash and makes change according to specific instructions.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Competencies
- Familiarity will organizational financial system
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good financial reporting skills
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in Accounting.
Experience:
A minimum of four (4) years professional experience in the finance or development sector.
Language Requirement:
Fluency in both spoken and written English.
