in April 2024, MEiN’s analysis revealed a worrying trend of attacks on the media. Non-state actors were the most frequent attackers, responsible for 43% of incidents, followed by security agencies at 29%, and both government and politicians at 14% each. The media was the main target, being the victim in 86% of the reported cases, with most attacks involving physical violence. The involvement of security agencies and government officials in these attacks is particularly concerning, as it suggests a potential effort to suppress media freedom.
